GISC/POEC 6385 Geographic Information Systems Theories, Models and Issues (3 semester hours) Provides an understanding of the theory, data models and associated issues (such as uncertainty) that underlie GIS and the way these are applied to, and effect, spatial analysis and spatial data management. Prerequisite: GISC 6381 and 6382, or equivalent with instructor's permission. (3-0) Y

POEC 6385 Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Models and Theory (3 semester hours) Further extends insights into geographic information systems (GIS) beyond the introductory course. Emphasis is placed on gaining an understanding of the data models and principles that underlie GIS and the way these principles can be applied to carry out spatial analysis. The application of broader scientific principles is demonstrated using state of the art software. Prerequisite: POEC 6381 and 6382, or equivalent with instructor's permission. (3-0) Y
