  • GIS/DB/Programming Working Experience: Webmaster & Nortel Networks & Raytheon/E-Systems CRSS/Space Imaging & US NAVY ET2
  • My Expectation for the UTD GIS curriculum: Achieve course goals by obtaining the ability to solve real world social and environmental problems, such as suitability assessment, environment inequity, diffusion simulation, distributed drainage runoff prediction, transportation planning, etc., using GIS tools and methodologies.
  • My Expectation for the Visual Basic language with GIS related applications: Allow me to delve into the basics of GIS VB / VBA programming, enabling me to increase my GIS programming power and productivity.
  • My Expectation for the GIS Management and Implementation course include learning the strategies and processes required to successfully implant and manage both an enterprise-wide and organization-wide GIS

Webmaster: Duties performed included the development of meaningful site content, graphic layout, page and site design. Study of new technologies and methodologies suitable for current and future implementation. Installation, administration, modernization and trouble shooting of client Web sites residing on remote WIN/UNIX host servers. Translation and creation of HTML documentation, including the development and maintenance of VBA, CGI, JAVA and Perl scripts.

Nortel Networks: System Test, Tools & Automation Engineer. Assisted department Engineers in test set ups, configurations, and test methodologies. Responsible for the development of test plans, test cases/procedures from requirement documents for product enhancements and new features. Documented all of the test cases/procedures and test results, which included entering problem reports into the tracking system and regressively testing software fixes for the reported problems. Interfaced with the Software Developer in isolating/recreating problems found during the test cycle. Responsible for producing test reports for the product.  Edited department documents, reviewed the product manuals for completeness and accuracy and helped develop the department's ISO documentation for all procedures/processes. Additional responsibilities include the development and maintenance of numerous software tools and automation systems used to improve and enhance the network functionality.ABOUT US

Raytheon E-Systems, Garland Division: Software Engineer. Developed, designed, and implemented application software within the UNIX operating environment, residing on a network of SGI computers. Our team of 100, divided into ten person groups, accomplished the primary software design using the object oriented design paradigm, Fusion methodology. All software design documentation was developed and maintained using Paradigm Plus (COTS). The software application was coded using the C++ computer language. The resulting product was in support of Space Imaging's vision, to be a twenty-first century information company leading the growth of a new global earth information industry, which will use map-accurate and information-rich imagery to revolutionize the way people conduct business.

United States Navy: Electronics technician second class. Supervised and administered the electronics department's technical staff. Duties included scheduling of maintenance activities and trouble shooting cryptographic, communication, and radar equipment. Primary Naval mission involved support of Commander 7th fleet, while forward deployed to the Western Pacific. Member PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America)

Web site contains over 100 pages of custom maps and geocoded data created for my use as a UTDallas/GISc student.

Objectives: This project is to obtain public data on the location of registered sex offenders located in and around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and create maps that illustrate the proximity of registered sex offenders to local schools using the buffer capabilities of GIS software.

Content provided by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sex Offender Registration (SOR) Database, Texas Education Agency (TEA) Database for school locations and DFWinfo.com Data Clearinghouse for base shapefiles.
